This year the J-League has once again shown itself as a competitive league and even more open than on other occasions. Also in my impression even the level has gone up.
Three new teams have been in the high zone this year; Hiroshima, FC Tokyo and Sapporo.
The Sanfrecce went back up thanks to the defensive style of their new coach Jofuku and the performance of their two main attackers (Patrick and Dangda) but their lack of backup substitutes lasted them causing a big drop in level in the final section.
The tokyotas were fighting for the league for half a year until they fell into their typical irregularity. Hasegawa, his new coach was decisive, to improve his midfield, also Oliveira in attack gave him a plus that he did not have before, he also took better advantage of Nagai advancing his position. This time they lacked bench to aspire to more.
In Hokkaido also with new coach, Petrovic, it was improved and more ambition was obtained. The contribution of the new signings (Komai and Miyoshi) plus the consolidation of the young Suga as well as the typical performance of Bothroyd, Chanatip and Tokura were decisive. However he lacked a better start and win the direct duels at the end.
The Frontale rose as victorious for being the most regular. Two other great teams like Kashima and Urawa reacted late but they were well up and won titles, the first the Asian Champions and the second the Emperor's Cup.
Kawasaki highlights the great level shown by his midfield despite the departure of Neyo in half as well as the consolidation above Chinen, although Saito did not settle despite arriving as a star signing. The Antlers have also had variation because this year Suzuki has made the start showing very good and the irruption of both Abe and Koki Anzai has contributed a lot, in his improvement of the end of alo highlighted Jung who came from the Tosu. Finally the Reds showed another face with their new coach, Oliveira, with a more conservative style.
Two humble teams have done a good job of paying for their chances; They are the Shimizu and the Shonan.
The oranges have shown great self-confidence with cheerful play with great performances of two of his attack men (Kaneko and Kitagawa) and their two central (Hwang and Freire) along with his attacking midfielder Ishige. While the very orderly and conservative greens managed to survive in J1 and also win the Nabisco Cup, in them we must highlight their coach Cho Kwi-Jea who is the architect of everything.
Interestingly the three sets of the Kinki region have completely disappointed; Cerezo Osaka, Gamba Osaka and Vissel Kobe.
The pretty tree came to win almost all last year but hit a big slump. They had a better squad this time but their coach, who was instrumental in the last two seasons and who gave him a conservative style, has not been able to manage it well by making mistakes in the rotations.
Regarding his other countrymen in the city, they had a strange year. Those of the marine animal started the year horrible but they corrected it in the second half of the season, thanks in part to the hiring of striker Watanabe, having to thank the second striker Hwang Ui-Jo and the veteran organizer Endo who did great all the year.
Those of the Vissel were very irregular and ended the fatal year. Their bad defense and inaccuracy of their strikers (Podolski and Wellington who were all year and to a lesser extent of Havenaar who only remained half a year) are to blame, the arrival of Iniesta in summer was not enough to fix the situation.
Then we found four teams that performed regularly but not far below their limited possibilities; Vegalta, Marinos and Jubilo.
Those of Tohoku maintained an irregular year with slight improvement at the end maintaining their fighting style and limited resources.
On the other hand, Yokohama, with a squad that suffers more loss each year, reacted in the second round to save itself and was able to face the last few days without traumas. The good performance of Kubo in the offensive driving, of Amano organizanfo and the goals of Hugo saved them, besides Yamanaka is consecrated little by little.
In Shizuoka almost finished in J2 by a tremendous downer in the second round. The poor numbers of their front (Okubo and Kawamata) and the injuries of their key midfield players (Adailton and Musaev) almost condemn them.
Already far below Nagoya and Tosu sparked at the end to save at the last minute. The signings they made in the summer helped them a lot.
Sagan strengthened the lead with Torres and Kanazaki getting an acceptable attack to their good defense, which this year fitted more goals than usual, special mention deserve Fukuta and Harakawa in the cnnt of the Kyushu field. The Grampus on the other hand had to improve the defense with the central Maruyama and the defensive pivot Neto to gain balance by reducing the goals that fit, thus taking advantage of the goals he managed to score thanks to a great Jo and the wizard Gabriel Xavier.
The Kashiwa put the bitterest note upon falling to J2. A team that has gone down in recent years and that had good players in general, but without a bench. The absence of a good offensive reference and a good game coordinator as well as a defense of birria condemned them to descent. At least Ito was consecrated just like Koike and Segawa managed to earn an acceptable formation for the future.
Finally the Nagasaki, although he came down, gave a good image and surpassed his chances by staying alive almost until the last day, something that no one trusted. Good first performance of his story in J1.
